American Slang by The Gaslight Anthem Review

American Slang by The Gaslight Anthem

“American Slang” marks an extraordinary leap forward for the Gaslight Anthem, revealing a triumphant rock and roll group honed by 2 years of practically non-stop touring. Singer/guitarist Brian Fallon’s lyrical approach has grown more personal and introspective, his raw throated vocals stronger and more resonant against the band’s never-ending energetic drive. American Slang is a classic rock and roll album, that will be a standard for other groups to measure themselves against and try to mimic for generations to come.

4. The Diamond Church Street Choir
5. The Queen of Lower Chelsea

Eminem Releases New Album Recovery

Eminem has released his much-anticipated new album Recovery on June 21st.

On Recovery, his seventh major label studio album, EMINEM has reached out to an interesting number of first-time collaborators, including Just Blaze, Jim Jonsin, DJ Khalil, Boi-1da, etc.

EMINEM released Recovery just more than year after his previous album, 2009’s Relapse. Relapse put the cap on an extraordinary ten years of recorded output, and contributed to EMINEM being the biggest selling performer of 2000-2009. In recognition of this, Neilsen SoundScan named him the Artist of the Decade. Relapse entered the charts at #1 and, at nearly double platinum, was the greatest selling rap album of last year. It also earned EMINEM his 11th Grammy award, winning in the Best Rap Album group. Relapse’s first single, “Crack A Bottle” from EMINEM, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent, soared to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (Eminem’s second #1 after 2002’s “Lose Yourself”) and set a SoundScan record at the time of its release for opening week download product sales (418,000). The album also spun off two other hits; the Top 10 “We Made You” and Top 20 “Beautiful.”

  1. COLD WIND BLOWS
  2. TALKIN’ 2 MYSELF FEAT. KOBE

10 Most Annoying Songs of All Time

OnlineMusicBlog recently conducted a poll of OMB readers to determine the most annoying songs of all time, and the results are in. Below (with editorial comments) are the 10 most annoying songs as determined by our readers.

10. Meat Loaf, “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)”: Won’t do what? Put us through 12 minutes of musical hell?

9. Los Del Rio, “Macarena”: Stupid lyrics plus a reinvented chicken dance equals annoying hit.

8. Aqua, “Barbie Girl”: Barbie meets Horny Robot Toy.

7. Crash Test Dummies, “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm”: Can I buy a vowel, please?

6. Ricky Martin, “She Bangs”: Only slightly less annoying that William Hung’s version.

5. Right Said Fred, “I’m Too Sexy”: They were too busy being sexy to have any intelligent lyrics.

4. Gerardo, “Rico Suave”: Rico Who?

3. Eddie Murphy, “Party all the Time”: Donkey, shut up already.

2. Vanilla Ice, “Ice Ice Baby”: Mindless white rap for rap wannabes.

1. Billy Ray Cyrus, “Achy Breaky Heart”: Country music to clog the arteries.

Honorable Mention:

Britney Spears, “Womanizer”. How many times can a song’s title be repeated in a single song? Might work well as a new drinking game though.

Media Player Reviews by OnlineMusicBlog.com

Whether you call them media players, jukeboxes, mp3 apps, music managers, or whatever - we all need a proggy to listen to our digital music with, so we decided it was time for the Online Music Blog media player review. For the sake of this article I am only going to discuss players you can get for free and I am not going to go into p2p apps.

So with that, lets dive right in. For my money there are are only 3 choices - Winamp, iTunes, or Windows Media Players - but I’ll talk a little about RealPlayer 10 as well. All of these applications share baseline features - playing various media files, cataloging digital media, etc. We’ll focus on things about them that are different. (more…)
